Printemps je t'aime

How can you not love French when you discover a wonder book like this one?
It's weird how books always come to you if you know how to wait for them. All these years, living what once I had thought as surreal, made me grow seeds of quiet phantasmagorias.
Books don't talk unless you look them in the eyes.

I'll never stay away from you, books and flowers.

Hedgehog stories in tiny polaroid photos

*Interview with Larry, the hedgehog of my imaginary world*

WHEN I WAS LITTLE
The adventurous story of a quite conceited hedgehog

1. When was the moment you realized you have a special talent?

When I was a little hedgehog and I found the flower of imagination and decided to plant her in my heart, from that moment I knew I am not a common hedgehog. I must confess I was a great sniffer back then and it's not for bragging that I say this but I believe the present me is even better, if not the best sniffer in my family. It's true I aged a spine or two but I am still invincible when it comes to precision.

2. What was the road to your Garden?

As I have already mentioned, one day I picked the flower of imagination in my heart and since I knew she is a very pretentious little fellow my biggest wish was to prevent her from wilting. In order to do that I had to find a way for her to adapt to my heartbeats, that is to movable land. I watched over her night after night not knowing how to do that. It was a really difficult time for me but I didn't want to give up, I kept searching for an answer and then... one day I came up with the best solution, I taught her roots a few dance steps and voilà... problem solved. Since then my nights have been peaceful, my flowers dance and I sleep.
By the time my flower turned into a small garden I knew I had a great mission to accomplish and so, every year since, I have been taking part in the "Absolute Garden of Illusion" competition.
It's a high-class competition with gardens of all kinds in which I have always succeeded to take home the first prize. But with such a glamorous and big nose like mine it's very difficult to fail, don't you think? Actually, there is no weed that can resist me. (laughs)

3. What is your secret key to success?

I am particularly famous for the fact that I created an ingenious way to recycle weeds, nothing is wasted in my garden. I use my spines to knit unique garments, the weeds are especially perfect for the animals that work underground. They are very durable and protect the skin from getting harmed, I even started an one-hedgehog company called "Greenspine".
I have recently moved to a new neighborhood and have a huge amount of neighbor rabbits around me so in the near future I plan to make knitted clothes for them too. I think it will be a very profitable business, I noticed how
rabbit families tend to be so numerous nowadays.

4. What advice would you give to a young hedgehog?

Keep calm and grow your spines just the way you like it, there is no wrong direction.
And, for the fancy ones, don't forget that too much perfume will freeze your nose, be careful with that.

Thank you so much Larry for letting me embrace you.

Tada! A small needed change.
Printed word for my pins.
This is how the back will look from now on but I will keep the stylized flower too. I wanted to belong to my pins more. ^^
And I am actually very content with the result.
What do you think?

Pixelated eye in a traditional vision

Ten years ago, when I first took a sewing needle in my hands was for doing needlepoint and ever since I was in love with it. Stitch after stitch you create patterns and even complex images, just like a painter. Actually back then I liked to imagine that I paint with the needle and I was so proud of it! ^^
Now I am going to return to needlepoint, finally! I have been thinking about it for some time.
Felt + needlepoint is next!
And I am very pleased enjoying the whole process!
Stay close, it's coming soon....

Tell me your wish

Arabela and I have been friends for some time now, if I remember well I think we met at a craft fair here in Arad. Am I right Arabela? Our first sewing session happened last December when she taught me how to sew Christmas tree decorations. She is such a creative and a skilled lady and we had so much fun together that we decided to meet again and do some more sewing or whatever it crossed our minds but...we ended up doing more sewing.

{December 2011, me and Arabela, who was wearing a lovely necklace, one of her handmade creations}

Here it is the project that we started together but that we finished separately, which turned out for the better because we ended up treating it like an embroidery marathon with a surprise finish line. Basically we had the same background but each had to come with her own details in the story.

The background goes like this:

there is this one gold fish that will grand you three wishes as long as you treat him well and give him a good name
each person has a gold fish, if not a real one, at least an imaginary one
you have to fully believe in all your wishes
you have to give the gold fish a good deal of attention every day
each pocket carries one wish/person
the wishes are secrets you share with the gold fish.

When turning the gold fish from an anonymous figure to a bright fish with personality we used our imagination in harmony with the sewing needles.

Arabela's gold fish is called Clabucila and he is happily bathing in soap, making bubbles, bubbles. He looks like he is dreaming while indulging himself in the warm water she prepared for him. Is it your handmade soap you treat the gold fish with, Arabela? You sure know how to pamper him!

Mine is called Mulcoghica, which is a play on the word "mulkogi", the Korean for "fish". He swims in the ocean of my illusions and knows Korean, he says: "tell me your wishes".

These being said, I am up for a new challenge!
Or at least for a new round of tea!
Thank you Arabela and see you soon!
